The ACE Member may have the opportunity to attend and even present at the Fall Florida Panhandle Shorebird Working Group meeting, depending on scheduling. UTV operation training will also be offered. Training: Field training will be provided to identify shorebird species by sight and sound, locate and monitor nests of multiple bird species, correctly conduct surveys and data collection, install symbolic fencing, re-sight banded adults and family groups, and to observe and document behavior. All Florida areas are accessible by automobile. Mainland features near Pensacola, Florida, include the Naval Live Oaks Reservation, beaches, and military forts. Of the seashore features offshore barrier islands with sparkling white quartz sand beaches (along miles of undeveloped land), historic fortifications, and nature trails. Gulf Islands National Seashore, near Pensacola Some islands along the Alabama coast were originally considered for inclusion, but as of 2009, none is part of the National Seashore. The protected regions include mainland areas and parts of seven islands. Gulf Islands National Seashore offers recreation opportunities and preserves natural and historic resources along the Gulf of Mexico barrier islands of Florida and Mississippi.
